RT4 Baitboat Body 

The hull of the bait boat RT4 was created in CAD and produced in Germany and was coordinated with the help of shipbuilding engineers to perfect it's driving characteristics associated with a double jet drive. The hull is made from 5mm fiberglass reinforced ABS and screwed together cleanly, so the boat can be easily retrofitted with a GPS system for example.

Through the trimaran form (3 floats) the RT4 bait boat offers the best possible floating position and stability in the water. As the boat is relatively wide and not very high, it has a perfectly balanced center of gravity. The compact dimensions of the RT4 are 65 * 41 * 22cm (L * W * H). There is a large brushed aluminum carrying handle mounted in the middle of the boat ,which is advantageous for lowering the boat into channels for example. The handle can be fold up or pushed to the side.

The batteries are located in a separate compartment under the battery cover in the middle float chamber, so the batteries do not fly around easily within the hull and are better protected. An easily accessible car fuse in the battery compartment protects the on-board electronics from surge damage.

In order for the RT4 to be switched ON or OFF, we use our blue-illuminated stainless steel switch that has proven its robust construction for more than 8 years in our wireless fish finders and bait boats.

 

 

  Double jet propulsion

Because of our patent double jet drive and the Carplounge magnet system, we completely avoided accident-sensitive mechanical components in the construction of our RT4 bait boats. Our double jet drive enables top speed, precise steering and plenty of traction.

Specially angled lamellas serve as an effective weed protection while enabling driving and steering backwards without the use of movable mechanics and servo motors, as it would be the case with (Kehrers)-jet drives. Because of the double-jet-drive, the boat is able to rotate on the spot and offers the best possible straight ahead running in comparison to other drive systems.

Using the normal jet drive, around 50 % of the energy is used to suck in the water and 50% to eject it. Thanks to the special construction of the lower body with the integrated jet drive, the RT4 only needs 5 % of the energy to suck the water in. Thus, it can use 95 % of the energy to emit it which makes the drive a lot more efficient.

Another advantage of the RT4 is that the jet drives are not attached to the interior but are properly integrated. That way we can guarantee a 100 % tightness even over a time span of many years since there is no jet glue which could become brittle after some years. Due to a special procedure our jet drives are competely maintenance-free. RT4 boats - unlike many other boats - do not have to be sent in to the manufacturer for regular maintenance.

The impellers, stators as well as the removable suction cap are made of high-impact GFK reinforced PA6 material. The weed protection caps can be taken off by simpy unscrewing 4 screws.

 

 

  Motor Concept

For the standard RT4 bait boat we chose an economical but powerful industrial jet motor of a German brand manufacturer that makes the boat one of the fastest and most powerful bait boat on the market.

For a premium of 49€ we equip the boat with an extra silent „low-noise“ brushed engine. This engine is 25% faster than the standart motor and the particular cadence prevents any type of noise coming from the engine or the ESC (ElectronicSpeedControl) and is thus also suitable for smaller waters.

If you like it even faster, you can now alternatively choose a brush-less power engine. Together with the Graupner company, we have found a perfect solution for the RT4 after countless tests of various brushless motors and speed controls. These engines are well known in the professional model building industry and are perfectly matched to our 14,8V Li-Ions and are actively air-cooled. Together with the matching 2x90A brushless speed controllers the boat accelerates at an enormous speed, which especially adds reliability and benefits when used on very large lakes and rivers. Despite the slightly higher power consumption, the RT4 thereby achieved the same travel distance. All components for the drive were tuned to maximize route and power with one battery pack. Thus it is even possible to straighten the line on large distances before dropping your rig.

 

 

  new for 2018- new PA6 Motormounts!

Now even quieter! We are now installing our newly designed engine mounts: the engine mounts made from PA6 Fiberglass reinforced and thus indestructible. In contrast to metal or aluminum holders so much less engine vibrations are transmitted to the Baitboatbody.

100% alignment! In addition to the motor, the Stevenstube for guiding the jet impeller is now also fixed in the motor holder. Due to the thousandth of a millimeter accurate injection molding process, the impeller is thus always perfect connected to the Motor by a on the rubber buffered coupling, which absolutely prevents noise even at full throttle.

4-bolt screwed! The new holders are screwed with 4 stainless steel screws into injected bushes in the RT4 lower body, a break away of the motor holder is thus excluded at the RT4!

Since January 2018, the new motor mounts have been installed as standard in the RT4 by our technicians. Development, Design and Production - Made in Germany!

 

 



  Feed Hatches

The boat was designed for a total capacity of 5 liters ( 2.5 liters per side). With the huge hatches of 32cm length and 8cm width a tilt of your Baits is completely excluded . Even tennis ball-sized feeding balls or death -bait rigs can be extended easily.

The two feed hatches can be opened by remote control independently of each other and are each held by a magnetic pin that drags in quietly. The feeding hatches are simply closed by hand. A complicated procedure of opening the pin to close the hatches by remote control like it would be necessary with a servo controlled plastic splint is not needed – this makes loading the boat significantly simplified.

Our magnet splint system does not use any battery while on stand by. If the magnet is being activated by remote, it only requires half a second of power to attract the peg.

As we are the only Trimaran manufacturer, the food hatches of our RT3 and RT4 boats open inwards and sit close to the middle float instead of close to the outer floats. The food hatches have an integrated neodymium magnet each. Thus, if the food hatch is being opened, it is being kept close to the body by the magnet and doesn't wobble around in the water while driving which makes a huge difference. Due to this optimization our boats are able to drive as straight as possible while the hatches are open.

Attached to the feeding hatches is a 4mm stainless steel shaft which is attached to the boat at the ends with stainless steel ball bearings. Thus the hatch is going to move reliably and quietly.

 

 

  Design & Coating

The standard RT4 comes with the popular Carplounge Carbon Design at no extra charge. After the carbon coating the hull is additionally coated with a particular boat varnish. The high-gloss finish provides significantly improved gliding qualities in the water because of its coating and makes it much more scratch-resistant than boats without a coating. Furthermore, the boat paint sealing offers the advantage that scratches can be polished out if they happen after all.

Besides the Carbon Design we also offer the ""Black Matt Edition"" which is a limited edition. It is a black and matt varnish for the RT4 with purple LED back lights and red RT4 stickers.

We cooperate closely with professional varnishers and airbrush specialists. Thus we can always offer all kind of special varnishes or individual airbrush designs if requested. You would like to have one of kind? Talk to us about it.

 
 

  2 Release couplings as standard

For separate deployment of the assembly, the standard RT4 comes with 2 release couplings. These can be triggered independently by remote just like the feeding hatches. Unlike our competitors we are the only company with our own patented Magnetic splint system for the release couplings as well as for the food hatchings. This proven system eliminates to 100% the jamming malfunctions - in contrast to the otherwise conventional servo controlled couplings.

The release couplings are frequently used by anglers of predatory fish as well to run out bigger bait fish or rock assemblies.

Furthermore the release couplings offer long range anglers the opportunity to keep the fishing line attached to the boat even over greater distances which can be a huge advantage on rivers or lakes with motorised boats/ships. Thus one just attaches 2 flying backleads (clip-/running-lead) to the main line. The first backlead is attached to the right release coupling and the second one to the left coupling and the assemply with the lead will be placed in the left food hatch. If you want to fish for example at a distance of 300 m, you simply run your RT4 and open the right coupling after 100 m (to release the 1st backlead). Then, after another 100 m you open the left coupling (to release the 2nd backlead) and at a distance of 300 m, you open the left food hatch with the rig. Thus the line is optimally "pinned" to the bottom.

 

 

  Dimmable LED lighting

Another highlight of the RT4 bait boat are the 2 macrolon-LED-spotlights. There are 2 white position LED's as well as an additional total of 26 white Power LED's that can be switched on separately via the remote control. The brightness of the 4 LED's in the front position, together with the LED's on the side that confirm opening of the hatches and the releasing of the rigs and the two rear red LED's can all be dimmed infinitely.

For the RT4 we have developed the variable-dimming-system: Via remote control the brightness of the LED's on the boat can be adjusted infinitely to the desired brightness. So you can adapt the lights perfectly to the lighting conditions. All LED's are super bright and easy to see even at the greatest distances.

With the help of the 26 power LED's and the calculated light scattering, shorelines can be illuminated at night much better then by the light cone of normal headlights.



 

  Backup System

Our popular backup system is standard installation in the RT4. In addition to the main battery a "reserve" backup battery is included, which can be connected in parallel with the main battery. Once the voltage of the main battery draws to an end, the LED's flash at regular intervals on the boat.

You are able to switch to the backup battery via the remote control. Once the backup system is activated and the boat is using the power of the backup battery, it is confirmed by two white LED lights at the boat's tail and the RT4 can cover an additional distance of 5 km. In the meantime, the main battery can be removed from the boat and be recharged for example in the car.

Another important detail is the standard built-in illuminated digital voltmeter - with that you can always have an eye on the total voltage of the currently used batteries (main battery and backup battery).

 

  2.4GHz Remote without external antenna

Our remotes work on the worldwide authorized 2.4 GHz ISM band. That means no quartzes, no frequency overly and maximal security against same canal disturbances. Since the transmitter and the receiver switch the frequency all the time synchronously, the chance of a double occupancy is pretty much ruled out with more than 130 million encoding options. Thus the danger of your own bait boat being controlled by another angler with the same quarty, which can happen with normal quartz bound remotes, is eliminated. Unlike with the normal remote you also don't need a long boat antenna anymore. Even the remote works well without an external antenna now!

Standard remote control FCX-6 Pro:
The digital FCX-6 Pro Tel has become handier and more ergonomic. Due to the more effective voltage conversion, it reduce the number of AA-batteries needed from 8 to 4. It now uses the advanced AFHDS2A protocol which has many advantages like lower error rates and an increased range.

Graupner MX12:
We offer the Graupner MX12 to all customers that already use a Graupner receiver or accessories. Since the MX12 cannot be used on the water without an extra external antenna, we do not recommend using it when long range reception is important to you.

Futaba T6K:
Futaba is a world-wide leader for long range remote controls. Thanks to the FFHSS protocol, Futaba offers the best high noise immunity out of all 2.4 GHz systems which can be used on the water.

Recommendations from our technicians: For bait boats with or without a sonar (i.e. Lowrance or Toslon TF500) the standard remote control is enough. The manufacturer specifies the possible distance at 500 meters. In case of nearby high frequency noise sources like high-voltage poles or a strong WiFi signal, we recommend the Futaba T6K. We also recommend the T6K if you require multiple radio links or are planning on expanding your system with a camera or Autopilot at a later point in time.

Fail-Free system by default! If the boat gets out of the reach of the remote control, the fail-safe system kicks in. The boat will not just continue driving straight ahead like other boats, but it turns itself off until it can be controlled by the remote control - safety first!" 

 

  State of the art BUS-steering system

Since the incorporation of a normal control unit can be very time consuming and error prone due to the many solder joints, we as the first manufacturer have also set new standards in bait boat construction.

If you look at modern vehicles, it is observed that nowadays only (CAN-) BUS systems are used to reduce the number of cables x 10. Using a bus-system all the electronic components are not centrally connected to a control unit, but starting from a central control only a 3-core cable (+/- control signal) is transferred to the individual components, such as LED's and pull magnets are connected to a bus board. Via the control signal each BUS gets digital signals from the central control, such as how much power the connected component should be delivered and for how long.

Advantages of SMD equipped bus system are the fast clear and reliable installation of the electronics. The disadvantages lie in the more than twice as high costs compared to a normal controller that pay for their reliability however. All boards are sealed with nano varnish or poured and thus effectively protected against moisture. Our Carplounge BUS system has already been installed in more than 5,000 RT boats and optimized for absolute reliability for years. With the unique control our RT3 and RT4 bait boats are amongst the most advanced bait boats in the world.

 

 

  Li-Ion batteries and running time

Since March 2014 only modern Li-Ion batteries are used for our RT4 , which provide a low weight and long running times due to their high power density. This is why the boat could be reduced to a weight of 4 -5KG depending on equipment (including batteries!)

Unlike other manufacturers, we use 4S (4 cells) Li-Ion packs with 14.8 V instead of 7.4 V or 11.1 V. Because of the higher voltage 4S Li-Ion's at the same loading level consume far less power and, in conjunction with the double jet drive, they have the world's longest battery lifetime.

The usable power capacity can be calculated from the nominal voltage (Volt) * capacity (Ah) = watt-hours (Wh) which in our case would be 14.8V*6.6Ah=97.68Wh per battery pack. Supplied with 2 Li-Ion batteries with each 6600mah, one for connecting as main battery, one as a backup battery. With a total of 13.2Ah / 195.4Wh the boat drives up to 11 KM range with a set of batteries.

Using the attached, digital Robbe LiPo/Li-Ion charger, the batteries can be recharged in as little as 45 min to up to 220 Volts thanks to the fast charging function or you can attach the charger with the added 12V adaptar, which comes free of charge, to any car battery or any other power source of 12V. Thus the batteries can always and everywhere be recharged fast.

For our RT4 bait boat, we offer a warranty of 36 months. Naturally, we guarantee even after the warranty period the availability of spare parts and a fast and cost effective service.

Mobility Guarantee: Since we do not just promise reliability, we are the only bait boat manufacturer that offers a mobility guarantee for all RT4 which are ordered from now on. If something does not work and it is likely that the problem is not resolved within 8 days, we will provide you immediately and of course free of charge with a replacement boat! Thus, you always stay mobile!

Service power: Our service department consists of 6 fulltime technicians who take an average of 4-6 days to do refurbishments, upgrades or repairs! With this we also set ourself apart from other manufacturers which our customers confirm regularly.
